Abstract
Barnardo’s has been involved in directly providing family support and childcare services and in resourcing community groups in the Blanchardstown area for the past 15 years. Barnardo’s first became involved in the area when they were asked to advise and support the development of three community playgroups in Corduff, Blakestown and Mountview. In 1983, a day nursery was established in the Roselawn Health Centre in conjunction with the Eastern Health Board. The organisation soon recognised a growing demand for accessible community based family support services and the Mulhuddart Community Project was established in 1989.
