Abstract

Childcare issues continue to occupy space in our national papers. Some of the concerns raised can be viewed as having a negative focus in that they describe situations in which a child has suffered death, injury or abuse. It is also debated as to whether or not judicial responses to such cases are "out of step" with expressed natural feeling about such cases. It is easy in such a climate for those working with children and families to despair about improving the quality of life for children and families with whom they are working and yet there are also developments in child care to give hope. This issues looks at some of these developents.
