Abstract
Barnardos welcomes the opportunity to feed into Courts Service Statement of Strategy 2012-2014. Barnardos notes that the previous Strategy 2008-2011 had as its primary priority to put the ‘needs of the court users first’. Barnardos recommends that this continue as a priority in the forthcoming Statement of Strategy and when such users are children that their engagement be underpinned by the key principles of UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, namely the best interests of the child be a primary consideration and the voice of the child be heard in all matters affecting the child.
