Abstract
Children need a safe, warm and secure place to call home. Inadequate, unsafe or insecure housing has serious repercussions; affecting a child’s mental and physical health, social and emotional development, education and their key relationships. The current housing crisis in Ireland has been more than a decade in the making but sharply worsened in 2014. Below, Barnardos outlines housing policy changes in 2015 and provides an analysis of the effect it has had on children.
