Abstract
Roots of Empathy (ROE) is an international, evidence-based, classroom programme
that aims to foster the development of empathy and emotional literacy among primary
school children, in order to reduce levels of aggression, bullying and violence, and
promote pro-social behaviours. The programme was first established in Canada in 1996 and is being implemented in
various countries on three continents.
